Peregrine is a small co-educational primary school which caters for children from Kindergarten through to Grade 6. We opened our doors in 2000, when a small group of parents were searching for an alternative model of education to that being offered in other local schools.
At Peregrine we have a small learning community that helps children develop a sense of belonging and connection. The school operates on a first name basis and children benefit from the continuity of belonging to one whole group, with the same small group of teachers throughout their schooling. We have learnt over the years, that when a school approaches learning with a focus on individuals and relationships, then innovative and effective curriculum results are possible.
We believe that a teacher's relationship with their students is of fundamental importance in their ability to create successful individual and group learning environments. We strive to develop not only each student’s intellectual development, but also to contribute to their long term social and emotional well-being.
Relationships matter! In a small school, we have the opportunity to really get to know the children. In a small school it is possible to establish the kind of human relationships that lead to good educational outcomes. By ‘good educational outcomes’ we consider not only academic success but student well-being.
At Peregrine, we aim to provide an environment in which children can learn about themselves and their relationships with others. It is our intent, that the school remain small. We have a firm belief in the human benefits of small schools.
